The Queensland Oaks has produced some amazing mares who have transitioned from being handy three (3) year old fillies to Cup winning open class mares. Surround won a Cox Plate, Ethereal a Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup and of course the daddy (or rather Mummy) of them all Winx.
Recently the Edward Cummings trained Duais won the Australian Cup and Tancred Stakes and is a major player in Springtime.
Tough day at Flemington to back up after the May meeting carnage. It can be a cold and unforgiving place in winter especially if your not finding a winner.
